यो उखानले यस्तो स्थितिलाई जनाउँछ जहाँ कसैलाई केही दिनुपर्दा आफू रित्तिने डर हुन्छ, तर नदिँदा आफ्ना प्रियजनहरू (इष्टमित्र) रिसाउने वा सम्बन्ध बिग्रने डर हुन्छ। यो एक प्रकारको धर्मसंकट हो, जहाँ दुवै विकल्पले केही न केही नोक्सानी पुर्याउँछ।

If I give, I become empty; if I don't give, the dear one's face becomes crooked/sour.
English Meaning
This proverb describes a dilemma where one is in a difficult situation. If they give something (often when they have very little), they themselves will be left with nothing or face hardship. However, if they don't give, their close relations (friends, family, community members) will be displeased, upset, or the relationship might sour. It signifies being caught in a bind with no easy or good choice.
