Roman English
Baagh marepachhi chhaalaa le baachchha, maanchhe naam le.
Literal English Translation
A tiger, after it dies, lives on through its skin; a person, through their name.
English Meaning
Even after a tiger dies, its skin remains valuable and its essence continues in that form. Similarly, even after a person dies, their name, good deeds, and reputation allow them to live on in memory. The proverb implies that a person should strive to earn a good name and reputation during their lifetime, as that is what endures.
English Proverb
A man's good name is his best monument.
